EVENT | SUGAR MOUNTAIN 2018
With a heavy focus on international heavyweights this year, Sugar Mountain, the consistently excellent summit of music and art is back with a banger of a lineup to get you dancing next January.
J Hus, London rap lord and Mercury nominee, was the first to be announced last week, but is now joined by Joey Bada$$, who owes a visit since he was last here in 2015, Cut Copy, Actress, Gerd Janson, Jamila Wood (Chance the Rapper’s collab mate) + more. Pushing the envelope for Australian tastemakers, the Sugar Mountain lineup holds more experimental must-see acts like Laurel Halo and a cracking army of DJs to storm the Boiler Room decks all day and all night including Eclair Fifi, Honey Dijon, Project Pablo + more. Local acts doing big things feature on the lineup too, with the likes of Ara Koufax, bilinguist Kardajala Kirridarra, Stella Donnelly and more.
As always, Sugar Mountain is one of the few festivals not only about the music. The art installations get more insane each year, if you were lucky enough to have a poke at the laser walls last year. For 2018, they’ve recruited artist-musician pairs like Marcus Whale x Athena Thebus, Corin x Justin Shoulder x Tristan Jalleh and a few others. The sensory restaurant is back again, with a small catch – dessert only this time.
Get moving on tickets for our favourite Melbourne festival, with a special announcement presale going today here.
