MONDAY TUNESDAY | JULY 31

KING IV | WE CAN GET IT feat. Rromarin

By Ayden Measham-Pywell

There’s a lot of electronic driven pop music in the world, but when you hear We Can Get It it suddenly picks up a new feeling. King IV, and guest vocalist Rromarin delve deep into our minds with the track. There’s a haunting element to the vocal work, over shimmering yet powerful production. It’s early days for King IV, but with this release it’s clear to see the wealth of potential that she has her hands on.

ALEXANDER BIGGS | FIGURE IT OUT

By Tanya Batt

It’s really nice to see Alexander Biggs back with his new single Figure It Out Entering the music scene last year with his debut release Out In The Dark and then following it with Tidal Wave which saw Bigg’s sign to major label Sony, this is his first release since the signing. Figure It Out has everything about Alexander Biggs you love, the beat drives the song forward and every element that enters is perfectly placed. I’m really looking forward to watching this artist grow and I am eagerly waiting to get my hands on his ep

CLOUD CONTROL | ZONE

By Alexandra Ainsworth

Indie rock darlings Cloud Control have released their second single and title track off their upcoming album, titled Zone (This Is How It Feels).  Self-produced by frontman Alister Wright, the track is a delicate mix of layered vocals, shared by both Wright and bandmate Heidi Lenffer. He notes that Zone (This Is How It Feels) “[is] our album’s flagship song, it’s sort of like breathing out.” It’s an undeniably moody four minutes, but show just how much the band have matured since their previous album, Dream Cave.

BATTS | LITTLE WHITE LIES

By Ayden Measham-Pywell

Carefully paced, Little White Lies could be Batts‘ most vulnerable piece to date, and equally her best so far. A distant set of backing vocals, and snippets of dreamy synths cut between the guitar and percussion work, creating a rich texture that perfectly compliments the honest lyrics that Batts’ offers up. Little White Lies is clearly a deeply personal track, yet thanks to the strength of Batts’ lyric writing, it becomes easy to draw our own associations and experiences to the track. It’s an impressive effort, and one that is bound to have us eagerly anticipating what comes next.

IV LEAGUE | CHANGE MY MIND

By Ayden Measham-Pywell

There is something magical about Change My Mind that’s hard to place. In it, IV League have created what could be the perfect blend of indie rock and guitar pop, the lyrics aren’t cheesy, and the riffs not too needlessly arty. It’s a piece full of staples done right, from the excellent execution of backing vocals to the stripped back sound around Belle Venutti’s key lyrical phases, every element just works pretty darn well.

MATTHEW KENNEALLY | WOULD YOU DO IT AGAIN?

By Tanya Batt

Matthew Kenneally is one of my favourite songwriters and I have a feeling he might become one of yours. Would You Do It Again? is one of those songs that are timeless and as you listen to it this calming emotion just washes over your whole body and mind. The melody, the lyrics, the strings, it’s absolutely heavenly.
